NXT will be having its third TakeOver special Sunday night at Full Sail University. This particular pay-per-view will be the first In Your House branded event since 1999 when WWE had St. Valentine’s Day Massacre: In Your House. With still no fans in attendance, NXT will look to make up for it with an excellent card.
Six matches will take place on the card with three titles on the line. Here are my predictions for the 2020 edition of NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
Mia Yim, Shotzi Blackheart, and Tegan Nox vs. Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, and Raquel González
Prediction: Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, and Raquel Gonzalez win
There is a ton of talent in this match and the winner here comes down to who needs it more. Blackheart has been given more T.V. time the past couple of weeks while Nox and Kai (along with Gonzalez) and still in some sort of s feud between each other. I’m going with the heel team winning here mainly because of LeRae’s new heel persona, along with her husband Johnny Gargano. It establishes her new style more and it benefits if the heel team wins here.
Finn Bálor vs. Damian Priest
Prediction: Damian Priest wins
Bálor could come away with the victory heel and it could be a toss-up. I am leaning more towards Priest here. Given that he has been in the North American title picture recently and seemingly has been pushed a lot more, giving him the victory over an established superstar like Bálor could help him out.
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Karrion Kross
Prediction: Karrion Kross wins
Kross has been popular before his time in NXT and has been pushed right off the bat since his debut a few weeks ago. There is no way that you have a guy like Kross lose his first big match on the big stage. This will be a GREAT match, given that Ciampa can put on a match with anyone.
North American Championship – Keith Lee (c) vs. Johnny Gargano
Prediction: Johnny Gargano wins the North American Championship
I’ve been flip-flopping between who wins here. On one hand, Lee has been excellent as the champion and has a lot of potential to have a longer reign with the title. However, on the other hand, Gargano’s new heel persona with his wife (Candice LeRae) might need a title reign to establish his new style. It would not shock me with LeRae is someone involved in costing Lee the title.
Women’s Championship – Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Io Shirai
Prediction: Io Shirai wins the Women’s Championship
Realistically, Flair winning the title has been a mistake given that there is a ton of talent in the division and this slowed down the momentum it had.
I was thinking Flair would win here but I think it might be time to make a quick change here. Ripley might be the obvious choice but why not try it out with Shirai and see what she can do with the title. If all else fails, you can have a program with Ripley vs. Shirai.
NXT Championship – Adam Cole (c) vs. Velveteen Dream in a Last Chance Backlot Brawl (If Dream loses, he can no longer challenge for the NXT Championship while Cole is still champion)
Prediction: Velveteen Dream wins the NXT Championship
If there was a crowd, I would have easily said Dream and the crowd would have had a BOOMING reaction. Still, there has to be a point in what is left for Cole as the champion. It might be time for Dream to take the title and see if he can be the main guy on NXT. If he loses, it could be a sign that he’ll move to Raw or SmackDown in the near future. The Backlot Brawl is a nice touch and that should be entertaining in a cinematic style match (similar to the Boneyard match for example).
Despite no fans, I think NXT will put on an excellent show. Lee and Gargano is the main match I am looking forward to but a lot of matches on the card. This should be a good show.
