As you can see, there are still quite a few spots to fill. Today, I’ll be making a few guesses and who I think will entering both Rumble matches. Some of these come from rumors circulating around the wrestling world while others I am guessing. I’ll start off with the Men’s Royal Rumble Match
1. Cedric Alexander
We start with a random superstar. Cedric Alexander had a fantastic 2018. After the revision of the 205 Live brand, we saw a 16-man tournament to crown a new Cruiserweight Champion, which was won by Alexander after defeating Mustafa Ali at WrestleMania 34. He held onto the title for an impressive 180-day reign while having great matches in the process. He lost the title to Buddy Murphy back at Super Show-Down and has been in an out of the 205 Live episodes since.
Alexander is a high-flying superstar that has shown he can put on great matches. Throwing him into the Rumble would give people a nice showing of what 205 Live is all about. We could even see a showdown between him and former opponent Mustafa Ali.
For weeks, we have seen promos of EC3 coming to the main roster as well as seeing him in backstage segments. What better time to debut him than having him in the Royal Rumble match. Non-NXT watchers already have a sense of what EC3 is all about with the weekly promotions of him.
Look for EC3 to finally debut on either Raw or SmackDown within the next few weeks, but a Rumble appearance could be a good start for his second return to WWE.
3. Lars Sullivan
Much like EC3, Lars Sullivan has been promoted as one of the new NXT call-ups to make the main roster in the next few weeks. He has yet to be seen on either show, because he was sent home to do anxiety attacks. Obviously, mental health stuff is a serious thing and I wish he can make a return sooner rather than later.
If he is good to go for this weekend, then why not throw him in the Rumble. Rumors were going around that he has a match setup against John Cena at WrestleMania 35. Have him come in and throw Cena out of the ring to ruin his chances to break the record most world title reigns. A good start a feud and a great way to put a new WWE superstar on the map.
4. Pete Dunne
Pete Dunne has been United Kingdom Champion for 613 as the time this article is out. He is a talented performer and having him the Rumble would be interesting to see the potential matchups he can have.
This is also could be a way to introduce the NXT UK brand to the American crowd. British wrestling has been on the rise and WWE can capitalize on this by throwing their top UK guy in the Royal Rumble.
5. Adam Cole
Adam Cole has been great on NXT and from the looks of it, his time on the yellow brand might be coming to a close. He is not scheduled to appear at NXT TakeOver: Phoneix so why not have him appear in the Rumble again like he did last year. He does not have to win, but having a good showing here like Andrade “Cien” Almas did last year with a 20+ minute run could help his stock for the main roster.
He will get called up soon, most likely after WrestleMania with his fellow Undisputed Era members Bobby Fish, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly.
6. Aleister Black
Like Cole, Aleister Black had a great run in NXT. The former NXT Champion will face Tommaso Ciampa at TakeOver: Phoneix for the title but I do not see him winning the match. If he does actually lose, I have a good feeling that he will make a Rumble appearance the next night. Imagine him coming in at #3 after the first two superstars start the match, the crowd would go crazy.
7. Matt Hardy
Many thought that Matt Hardy retired from wrestling but recently on Twitter Hardy is teasing a WWE return. What better time to have him come back than in the Royal Rumble. The Broken Hardy gimmick outside of WWE was one of the best runs of his career and the company did not use that to the full potential. If he does return, look for them to push the gimmick once again.
8. Shelton Benjamin
We have not seen Shelton Benjamin on T.V. for a few weeks and a Rumble appearance might not happen. But Benjamin is a freak athlete and can pull off some fun spots in the match. As a fan of Benjamin, I would like to see him featured more in WWE and the Rumble could be a start.
Batista for months has been talking about coming back to the WWE for one final run. His 2014 run was a disaster and wants to end his career on a higher note. He was rumored to have a match with Triple H at ‘Mania 35 but after suffering a torn pectoral at Crown Jewel, that match will likely not happen. Still, he wants to come back and he is a star and Hall of Famer so fans would not might him having him back in a WWE ring.
10. Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt has not been seen on WWE TV for quite some time. Rumors are going around that he has been kept off television because of injuries and a potential repackaging of his character. He has been performing in a few house shows but who knows what WWE has in store the former WWE Champion. The Rumble is a good start for the rebirth of Bray Wyatt.
Now on to the predicting the remaining seven spots in the Women’s Royal Rumble
1 & 2. The Bella Twins
Nikki and Brie Bella despite not being on TV, the twins still one of the more popular female superstars in the WWE. They were in the Royal Rumble last year and had a good run, being in the final three. It would not surprise me to see them both make an appearance here.
3. Shayna Baszler
Last year, then NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon debuted in the Royal Rumble and we can see this happen for the second year. If she loses her title to Bianca Belair the night before at TakeOver: Phoneix, I can see her being a surprise entrant here.
After the Rumble, I can see her being on NXT for a few more weeks and eventually being called up to the main roster after WrestleMania 35.
4. Toni Storm
Similar to Pete Dunne, I can see NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm making an appearance here to showcase the NXT UK brand. She does not have to win but giving her a good run against the other members of various female divisions can show the fans what NXT UK is all about.
Lita is a legend and was one the pioneers in for women’s wrestling. She made a surprise appearance in last year’s Rumble and eventually had a match at the all Women’s Pay-Per-View Evolution late last year.
You always have a few surprise legends make a Royal Rumble appearance, so having Lita here is a good call, along with the next prediction.
6. Trish Stratus
Much like Lita, Trish Stratus is a pioneer in women’s wrestling and also surprised everyone by entering the first Women’s Royal Rumble. She teamed with Lita in the previously mentioned Evolution PPV.
Having her enter the match will get a nice pop from the crowd, similar to how it was planned out last year.
7. Becky Lynch
I know she is scheduled to face Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Championship so there is a high chance she will not enter the match. I’ll have more about that in my Royal Rumble predictions but here is my quick reasoning for picking her here.
Lynch is no doubt has a nice revive in her career after turning “heel” and winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell. Say she loses at the Rumble, she could take her frustrations out by entering herself in the match and clean house by eliminating various superstar, including her rival in late 2018 Charlotte Flair. The pop for that would be crazy.
